Every time I walk to class I pass the above flower bed. And every time I tell myself to take a picture. Well today I did. These flowers remind me of succulents, pinatas and Puerto Rico. I remember that at my Abuelita's house she had a flower bed covered in these red flowers that would open when the sun was out and close when the sky would darken. There would be all sorts of snails in there and I remember thinking these flowers were just amazing. So naturally when first walked to class and these were blooming I couldn't help but reminisce and wish I had some in my own garden.
It just so happened that when Ryan and I went to Lowes they were there on sale: 6 of them for 37 cents!!! So we bought 3 cases of six for less than two dollars! Click the title for details about this flower and here are some other pictures...I didn't take these but I would love a dress like their petals.

Where did you plant them -- which part of your backyard?
Those are beautiful! I can totally imagine a flamenco style dress with those colors - and the ruffles! Keep us posted on how yours do!
Love.
