Compassion

I have started my summer practicum Counseling! That is right I am going to be a counselor. Do I have any insight for you... Some I suppose

In the three 3 weeks of my experience I have learned profound things in the realist of reality!

1. People suffer and children suffer and those around them suffer. It is not my place to dismiss their reality but to help them cope, change or both

2. People and children seek profound joy, they need love, and will try to find it even if it is maladaptive, harmful, or inappropriate

3. While I may help in moments they are responsible to find what they are looking for, I may only shed light on the problem or help them find a way

One thing I feel is a sorrow for these children of God. How sad that they do not remember who they are. What joy the Savior can bring, what relief of pain and companionship. How wonderful that we know of a way to Him to find His rest. What compassion He has... if anything I have learned thus far that He loves us deeply and sorrows in our pain.

If anything I have seen a glimpse of that sorrow, a bit of that love, and I hope to be a compassion to all those I meet. It is my goal in life to find Christs charity and love for all people regardless of their sin, pain, and loss. I pray that I my be humble enough to see the good in all.

1 Pet. 3: 8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous

I've always thought this would be a good field for you and my sister Gab - you two are so alike: Beautiful, Intelligent Searchers. I am so blessed to have both of you in my life.
What branch of counseling are you planning on going into again? Will you work through your church? Since your faith is such a large part of your life, it seems as if this might be just the thing for you. How exciting for you to be beginning on this journey!

Love

P.S. Isn't today your BIRTHDAY? Forgive me if I've gotten the date mixed, but Happy Birthday if I'm remembering correctly!
