Don't deny that you too - once had a fanny-pack. If you are asking "What is a fanny-pack?" then you must have been out of the fanny-pack loop! I distinctly remember the radical purple and gnarly pink waist belt purse. I'd place all sorts of fun in the zipped pouched and wore it fashionably around the perimiter of my waist.
Some say that the fanny-pack is a distant, painful memory, like acidwash jeans or big bangs. But, I laugh in the face of those fashion officionados! HA HA! To you I say -We will never die! No we live on like bad pop songs in diet coke commercials.
We live on the waists of the 60 year old men, 35 year old women, and 10 year old children whose moms frequent thrift stores and walmarts. I do not deny myself from any catagory - rather I welcome the fanny-pack as a style of choice, and statement of confidence, and purse of reliability.
I dedicate this post to my dad, who currently heads the Fanny-Pack Revival Association (FPRA), along with Suzanne's awesome father. To both I say hurrah! Keep on fanny-packin'!

And a poem for my daddy:
In a land not of his own,
with his fanny-pack he did roam.
Through the jungle and on the streets,
in the rain and in the heats;
trying hard to sell this and that,
all was found in that fanny-pack.
Brakes for cars and gears for boats,
even some broccoli and blueprints for moats.
Then one day a question asked:
"A slice of memry, a bit of past?"
Into the fanny-pack he did delve,
books and eggs that did count twelve.
Not a bit of memry nor slice of past:
"Not all was there!" he thought at last.
How could it be? Where had it gone?
Had he forgot it? Had it been that long?
For the thing most precious he did lack,
Memry of home was not in that pack.
On a plane he did climb,
In search of what he'd lost with time.
Home again, home again he was bound:
For thats where his treasure could be found.
Open arms and teary eyes,
there were no questions, no murmered whys.
In his home he was back,
and now forgotten
was that

you are AWESOME!!! I love the poem. I too was a victim of what some would call "fashion" during the 1980's and I wouldn't leave the house with out my fanny pack, my slap braclet and jelly shoes. . . don't deny it, I know you still have a pair hidden in that closet of yours!
that picture of the hot pink fanny...i think i actually owned that exact one! Plus I have the GREATEST pic of you with a fanny you'll have to post it!
Thanks again for making me laugh! :) Love the poem.
